Paducah's Sunglasses & Prescription Sunglass Vision Center

We all love to spend time outside when the sun is shining bright and the skies are blue. However, did you know that this can cause serious damage to your eyes? You must be protected when you go out in the sun, whether you need a prescription or not. If you have questions about eyeglasses, please contact our staff or read below for answers to some of the top questions we get about sunglasses.

What type of sunglasses do you have?

Brush Optical can provide customers with a wide variety of sunglasses, whether they wear glasses or not. For those that wear glasses, we offer clip-on lenses that turn any pair of our regular glasses into UV-protected sunglasses. Additionally, we offer prescription sunglasses and transition lenses that darken when exposed to bright light.

How do I know my eyes will be protected?

It’s important to choose the right protection when it comes to picking out a pair of sunglasses, and you want a pair that blocks at least 99% of UV rays from the sun. Additionally, you’ll want to find a pair that says “UV 400” on the label, which means that the glasses block radiation that’s as small as 400 nanometers.

What are polarized lenses? Do I need them?

Polarized lenses help by blocking glare that may occur in certain situations. When the sunlight hits a shiny surface and bounces upwards, this creates a glare that can become dangerous. Additionally, polarized lenses come in handy while boating, fishing, skiing, golfing, jogging, and driving. Polarized lenses should be marked on the label.
